Sporting Futures Breakfast Runs
The Sporting Futures
Breakfast Runs were first introduced for the 2008 Derby 10k, A total of
three breakfast runs were launched in the February and due to their
success further runs were added previous to the 2008 race and then
subsequently a busier calendar added for the 2009 race in
April.
In response to runners suggestion we are now launching a
monthly
breakfast run calendar which begins in June 2009.
The aims of the
Sporting Futures breakfast runs are to encourage people of all
abilities
to improve their fitness and in preparation for the Derby 10k race.
The
breakfast runs provide people with the opportunity to meet others with
similar fitness levels, gain professional advice from athletes and
coaches, and to generally make training fun.
The
breakfast runs start and finish at Darley Barn Outdoor Centre where
changing facilities and showers are available and Sporting Futures also
provide a continental breakfast and drinks for after the run. There is
a small fee of £2 per run to cover costs.
It
is recommended that every participant remembers to bring warm clothing
for the training runs to avoid injury and illness, and dry clothing for
after the training runs.
Each person who registers for the
breakfast runs will be sent an information document including
directions along with the maps for chosen training runs.
The time it takes to
complete a training run is not important!
