This
project is funded by Erewash Community Safety Partnership and Erewash
Primary Care Trust, the project has been running for the past four
years. Based in two wards, Cotmanhay and Kirk Hallam, the project
focuses on community sport sessions and coach education sessions in
schools.
Excellent support is provided by Derbyshire Youth
Servicet o the project. Sporting Futures and the Youth Service support
two teams of young men from Cotmanhay on Wednesday evenings in the JJB
league.
Sporting Futures deliver several different sessions within these areas
and have had some extremely positive outcomes over recent times for the
groups we have been working with. The
community sessions are open to all young people 11-18 years old where
they can attend regularly and take part in sporting activities within
the community they live in. These sessions are designed to give
participants the opportunity to take part in sport in areas that do not
offer a wide programme of activities.
