To our
10K Volunteers:
On behalf of Kay Smith the Event Organiser and Sporting Futures, I
would like to thank all the volunteers for giving their time and effort
into organizing and helping out at the Derbyshire Building Society 10K
Run and Fun Run. We are receiving lots of positive feedback from those
who attended.
Without your support the event would simply not go ahead. You all
worked very hard to make the event a success in its 7th year,
especially those who regularly volunteer and devote their time to the
event annually.
Although there were at least 130 volunteers helping on the day, we were
still short of help in all areas. This put extra strain on all of us.
However, this only made us more determined to plough on. If we all
brought one friend to help us next year, we would be able to make our
roles easier and more effective and improve the quality of the
experience for everyone.
Please send me your comments about your experience, what went right,
what didn’t go so well and any ideas how we could improve the systems
for next year. I need to hear from you as you were on the
front line and could identify improvements in key areas.
If any of you are interested in helping at the planning stage for 2009,
get in touch and we will include you at our planning meetings which
usually start in the autumn.
Thank you all again
Yours in Sport,
Julie Barker
Volunteer and Mentor Manager
To our fund-raising runners:
Each year we merely cover the cost of
entry with the entry fee, we then
rely on your donations and fund-raising efforts to really help us to
make a difference to the developmental and social environment of
Derbyshire young people and adults. We sincerely thank you
all for your fantastic efforts again this year.
Post race sponsorship
returned as at 08 August 2008 = £2,428.02.
JustGiving: to date we have been
pledged a phenomenal £2,960.93 (inc.
Gift Aid), this is borne from 17 event pages created and some direct
donations. At least 2 of these event pages are targeting to
raise £1000 each - unbelievable!
We are truly moved by the
generosity and committment of you all, thank you so very much.
