Volunteering

Sporting Futures uses volunteers on its projects and programmes everyday. We realise that people volunteer for many different reasons. We are currently working towards the Investors in Volunteers Charter standard because we want our volunteers to know that they are giving their valuable time to an organisation that appreciates their time, commitment and skills.

The Volunteer's role at Sporting Futures
Every person who works for Sporting Futures plays a vital role in helping hard to reach young people, whether it is a volunteer, coach, administrator, fundraiser or manager.  We are here for the young people who need us and at the end of the day they are the most important part of the charity.  So where does the role of the volunteer fit in at Sporting Futures and how important are they?

Most of our volunteers are the people on the front line.  They are the ones who directly work with hard to reach young people.  They are the ones who train in a specific role and give up their free time to help others in need because they want to!

Volunteers at Sporting Futures are the most valuable commodity we have.  They are a priceless investment using their time, expertise, passion, quality, patience and commitment they devote to every hard to reach young person.

We aim to protect our commodity by ensuring that our volunteers are treated equally and receive quality support and training, that they are made to feel part of a welcoming and worth while team and they are respected

The 10k race volunteers-  The 10K volunteers ensure that the event goes ahead.  It doesn't matter how much planning and PR goes into the event, without 200 volunteers the event would not be the success it is today.  From traffic management to  car parking, from registration to baggage security, from logistics to route marshalling, from results and prizes to sports massage; volunteers are needed in every area of the event.  Without the time and devotion of the volunteer event organisers, the evnt would simply not happen.  See the 10K volunteer's page for more information.

Mentoring - As part of our Team-mates programme we require volunteers to work on a 1-2-1 basis with young people. All necessary training is provided all we ask is that you can give 2-hrs per week to help support a young person. Coaching and Leadership - If you are interested in becoming a community sport leader or coach and need some experience then we can help to place you at various different sport sessions. We can also help you access any additional qualifications you may need.

Administration volunteers - The volunteers administrator is giving valuable foundation support to the administration team, who in turn support office staff who support the volunteers and coaches.  The volunteer administrator is able to take on tasks during busy periods, ensuring that deadlines are met, expenses are paid, products are ordered, promotional material is posted and the office runs smoothly and efficiently, therefore enabling coaches to deliver their programmes and the mentors to meet their mentees.  To apply to help as a volunteer administrator select the link to the right.
